Apron with fruit bowl appliqué

An apron with fruit bowl appliqué made of printed cotton and cotton muslin, it is likely handmade. The apron fastens at the top of the shoulders with a black plastic four leaf clover button on each side. These buttons align with buttonholes on the back straps of the apron. Printed cotton with a striped watercolor effect in muted pink, blue, brown and purple is sewn to the top, ending at chest level. The bottom portion of the apron is made of unbleached cotton muslin. A patchwork appliqué depicting a fruit bowl is machine zig zag sewn to the center front. The appliqued fruit is made of cotton except for the pineapple stem which is made of cotton corduroy. The fruit bowl is made of the same printed cotton used at the top of the apron. The top of the back is made of unbleached cotton muslin which continues from the top seam at the center front. Below the cotton muslin, printed striped cotton in a watercolor effect is sewn on each side back seam. Brown bias tape is machine sewn to all the exterior edges except for the center front hem, which uses muslin bias tape. The bias tape is secured with a row of machine zig zag stitching and a row of machine running stitches. The apron is self-lined and matches the construction on the front. Applique stitching for the bowl and pear is seen at the interior. A curved line created with graphite is marked at the center interior below the fruit bowl.
