Collection of the best animes from Studio Ghibli, no particular order, just some of studio's best animes!

Short intro

Was rewatching animes from Studio Ghibli recently, I have seen some of them as a kid before, but watching them again as an adult felt so much more different. Not even art is still amazing, but story and meaning is perceived from a drastically different perspective. This is not a top or ranking, the numbers are just there, because I believe all of these animes are exceptional in their own way. If I forgot any, dont hesitate to apply to edit new version of this node.

Ranking

1. Princess Mononoke - Max

One of the most complete, most complex, most layered Ghibli movie. There’s no good vs evil - just conflicting forces, each trying to survive or protect something. I come back to this one the most because every character feels real, even when they’re mythical. The animation, the music, the final message - unmatched.

2. The Wind Rises - Netflix

A slow, grounded film about creativity, obsession, and the quiet tragedy of building something beautiful for something horrible. The older I get, the more this hits. It’s not flashy, but it’s Miyazaki writing a goodbye letter to dreams and ambition. The quote “Le vent se lève. Il faut tenter de vivre.” doesn’t leave.

3. Whisper of the Heart - Netflix

It’s not magical in the traditional Ghibli sense, but it’s one of the most emotionally honest coming-of-age stories ever made. The feeling of wanting to create something meaningful before you really know how. It captures the fear and magic of growing up with almost painful accuracy.

4. Spirited Away - Netflix

Feels more like a memory than a movie. Every room, rule, and spirit is designed like a dream - specific but unexplainable. People say it’s overhyped, but it’s really not. It’s surreal, nostalgic, and quietly sad in ways you don’t notice at first.

5. Kiki’s Delivery Service - Netflix

The most comforting movie Ghibli ever made, and probably the one I recommend the most. It’s soft but not shallow. It’s about burnout, identity, and the pressure to keep being useful - which is way too relatable now. Also, best Ghibli city.
