Artemis II Test Flight Mission Launch Highlights

NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket with the Orion spacecraft carrying Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, along with Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), lifts off at 6:35 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from Launch Complex 39B at NASA Kennedy. The Artemis II test flight will take the crew members on a 10-day journey around the Moon and back.

All four astronauts. And it appears all of them are undergoing their suit leak checks. Yes, a preflight tradition that we have seen with our crewed flight. The card game. The astronauts who have just left crew suit up and are now walking down a hallway.

And here they are, NASA's Artemis II crew taking their first steps outside for their historic test flight. The four of them step into there astrovan. And off they go. Oh, this must feel so special to the crew to see all of these people here. Watching the crew walk across the crew access arm.

Getting a beautiful view. Everybody configured with their suits. So in we go. The closeout crew has closed the launch abort system hatch. 321 booster ignition and liftoff.
