NASA's Space to Ground is your weekly update on what's happening aboard the International Space Station.

What is said in the film

Welcome to Space to Ground. I'm Nicholas Page, and I'm Shaneequa Vereen. We're counting down to the next crewed launch from Florida to the International Space Station. This flight will mark the fourth launch of the space station for the commercial company Axiom Space, and the fifth launch to space for an American icon. Former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson will command the upcoming Axiom Mission 4.

Launch is scheduled for no earlier than Tuesday, June 10th from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The flight will have crew members from the United States, India, Poland, and Hungary, and is set to dock the next day, bringing new science, outreach, and international collaboration to the station. Live coverage of the launch of Axiom Mission 4 and the arrival to the space station can be seen on NASA+. These private missions are a part of NASA's growing partnerships with commercial space companies. The goal?

Building a sustainable economy in low Earth orbit. One where industry, research, and even tourism, can thrive without relying solely on government-led missions. NASA is planning for the long haul. Keeping space a place where innovation and access continue to expand, while the agency focuses on deep space missions like Artemis and the Moon to Mars architecture. Back on board the station, the crew is hard at work on science, including the Aerosol Monitors experiment.

This investigation expands on previous research to monitor airborne particles inside the space station. On future long-duration missions, concentrations of particles must be tracked and kept within safe ranges for crew health and hardware performance. Results from this research could also have real-world benefits for Earth-based environments. And speaking of Earth, the astronauts are showing us some incredible views. Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers have been active on social, sharing shots of storms both weather and space weather.

Yeah, they've posted amazing images of thunderstorms and even auroras from recent geomagnetic activity. And while NASA astronaut Don Pettit may be back on Earth, his imagery taken while on orbit continues to amaze. We'll never say no to a good Earth from space view, past or present. You can follow all the latest updates about the flight of the Axiom mission and other space station activities on nasa. gov and across NASA's social media.

But for this week, that's Space to Ground. Thank you so much for watching.
