NASA's Kennedy Space Center is a VPP Star Site

Since 2003, NASA's Kennedy Space Center has been designated by OSHA as a Voluntary Protection Program Star Site. Program Manager Jeffrey Silva explains how VPP keeps NASA Kennedy's employees operating in a safe environment.

Hi, I'm Jeffrey Silva, VPP site manager at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Since 2003, Kennedy Space Center has been designated as a VPP Star Site, the highest level recognized by OSHA. VPP designation acknowledges employers who partner with their workforce to create, maintain, and improve proactive and effective safety and health management systems.

VPP focuses on four elements management leadership and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, and safety and health training. Being a VPP Star site provides numerous benefits to the Kennedy workforce, including a robust safety culture and a safer work environment proven by over two decades of injury and illness rates lower than the national average for others in our industry. A VPP star site designation helps build and maintain a positive relationship with OSHA by embracing VPP's four elements and treating safety as a team effort.
