White striped cotton dress with lace

A white striped cotton dress with lace. The dress has a round neckline and is made of white cotton with stripes made of cotton and silk patten weave creating elongated ovals. Cotton flower lace is sewn along the edge of the neckline. Lace is inset along the center front of the dress below the neckline. Floral tape lace is sewn at the center front of the waist seam and continues onto the backside of the dress over the shoulders. The lace is boarded with gathered trim net lace with scalloped edges. The bottom portion of the sleeves are made of a three inch wide band of floral lace. Gathered trim net lace with scalloped edges is sewn along the bottom of each sleeve. A one inch wide tuck is sewn below the waist seam on the proper left side of the front of the dress and ends at the hemline. Two bands of floral lace four and a half inches wide are sewn along the bottom portion of the dress. A thin cream silk ribbon is sewn along the top of the floral lace. Gathered trim net lace with scalloped edges is sewn along the bottom of each floral lace band. Floral tape lace boarded with gathered trim net lace with scalloped edges is sewn along each back panel of the bodice. The lace is only sewn down on the interior side. The dress opens in the center back with eleven metal hooks and eyes with the bottom hook and eye along the waist seam. Two additional hooks and one additional eye are sewn along the waist seam. Eight metal hooks are sewn along the proper right side of the center back opening below the waist seam. These have no correlating eyes; the bottom hook ends at the bottom of the center back opening. The center back opening transitions into a center back seam. A seventeen and a half inch long lace tail is sewn to the center back of the waist seam. The back of the dress is slightly longer than the front. The dress has a double fold hand sewn hem. Silk satin ribbon is hand sewn along the edge of the neckline at the interior. The dress is unlined and has a cotton canvas waist tape that was likely a later addition. The dress is machine and hand sewn and is unlabeled.
