August 24th Swearing In Ceremony

NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Director Brian Hughes conducts a swearing-in ceremony for NASA’s newest civil servants on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, inside the Astronauts Memorial Foundation’s Center for Space Education at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. The ceremony featured the swearing-in of employees formerly from the Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering, and Test (COMET) contract, as well as outside hires, as part of the administrator’s workforce directive to restore technical core competencies within the civil servants ranks.

Thank you and welcome you for your first day as NASA's civil servants. As NASA prepares for sustained lunar operations, future Mars exploration, and increasingly complex missions, it is vital to preserve the knowledge capabilities within the federal workforce. You were selected because the knowledge, skills and experience you have already brought to the agency are so vital that we want you to continue in the agency as civil servants. You now join a legacy of public service to help shape NASA's history for Mercury charity Apollo Space Shuttle International Space Station and Office. It helps ensure you maintain the right balance of capabilities across our workforce while continuing the legacy innovation and expertise of our industry and teammates that will shape the next year of discovery.

Each of you now plays a direct civil service role in that future. I thank you for your dedication, for your professionalism, your willingness to continue serving NASA. But now, on the side of that. I see your name. I do solemnly swear, solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and justice for the Constitution.
