Support

Service members and veterans can face different health issues from civilians, and their families face challenges of their own.

What families deal with

  • Separation from loved ones.
  • Worry about a loved one's safety in a combat zone.
  • Single parenting while a partner is deployed.
  • Moving often.
  • Caregiving: helping a loved one live with combat illnesses and injuries, including disabilities — which can lead to caregiver stress.
  • Mental health: helping a loved one cope with the effects of service, such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
