When patients have to be told they may have been exposed to an infection, how the news reaches the media shapes how well the message lands. A key question in any such crisis: is this the right way to release the information? Some of this guidance is written for people new to communications work.
Choosing the level of media outreach

Joint press conferences
A press conference gets harder when several organizations share the investigation, each with its own role. If you hold one together:
- make sure everyone agrees on the wording of the talking points;
- settle in advance who will answer which topics in the question-and-answer session.
