About the numbers

  • The answer comes from one question: "During the past 12 months, have you been told by a doctor or other health professional that you had sinusitis?"
  • The National Health Interview Survey interviews a sample of households in the civilian, noninstitutionalized U.S. population.
  • Figures are age-adjusted to the projected 2000 U.S. population, using four age groups: 18–44, 45–64, 65–74 and 75 and older.
  • The white and Black groups are people who are not Hispanic and chose one race. Hispanic people may be of any race.
