Lydia Taylor was born January 4, 1815 in Ashby, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Abigail or Nabby Rice (1776-1856) and Abel Taylor (1768-1844) and granddaughter of Revolutionary War soldier Abraham Taylor. She married Hosea Kendall, the son of Captain Oliver Kendal on Oct 20, 1836, and died in 1868..
The portrait is attributed to Ruth Bascom (1772-1848).
