Home care lets a person with special needs stay in their own home. It may be for people who are getting older ("aging in place"), or who are chronically ill, recovering from surgery, or have a disability.
What home care covers
| Kind | Examples |
|---|---|
| Personal care | help with bathing, washing hair, dressing |
| Household chores | cleaning, yard work, laundry |
| Meals | cooking at home, or meal delivery |
| Money management | filling out forms, paying bills on time |
| Health care | a home health aide, or care from your provider by telehealth |
You can get almost any kind of help at home.
Paying for it
- You pay for many services yourself.
- Some care and community services are free or donated.
- Government programs or your health insurance sometimes cover certain services.
