Women have health issues of their own, and some problems that affect both sexes affect women differently.
Issues unique to women
These include pregnancy, menopause and conditions of the female organs.
- Early and regular prenatal care helps women have a healthy pregnancy.
- Women should get recommended screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer and bone density.
Shared problems, different effects
Women and men share many health problems, but they can affect women differently:
- Women are more likely than men to die after a heart attack.
- Women are more likely to show signs of depression and anxiety.
- Sexually transmitted infections can have more serious effects in women.
- Osteoarthritis affects more women than men.
- Women are more likely to have urinary tract problems.
