His role

Gregory Larsen, Ph.D., is a biologist with the National Park Service's Southeast Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network, in Juneau, where he has worked since 2024. He monitors sea otter, pinniped and seabird populations.

Training and skills

  • Education: Ph.D. in Marine Science & Conservation, Duke University, 2022; B.A. in Biology, Middlebury College, 2010.
  • Interests: wildlife biology, marine ecology, population monitoring, habitat ecology, remote sensing, drones and conservation technology.
  • Drone pilot: Part 107-certified since 2017, with 1000+ flights and 200+ hours in the air.
