NASA Astronaut Jonny Kim Advances Research Aboard Space Station

NASA astronaut Jonny Kim is wrapping up his first mission aboard the International Space Station in early December. During his stay, Kim conducted scientific experiments and technology demonstrations to benefit humanity on Earth and advance NASA’s Artemis campaign in preparation for future human missions to Mars. We have had a continued presence, humans in space for 25 years. And we've learned so much of how to sustain ourselves, how to grow our own foods, and how to take care of ourselves in this harsh environment. We do technology demonstrations, perform life-changing research, and some of that is pharmaceuticals research. Trying to see how we can potentially develop and manufacture drugs that might be more potent and helpful to people on Earth. Johnny, Shankini on Space to Ground three.

We're excited for this final day of MABL-B. One of the biggest experiments is actually our own bodies. So NASA is really interested in how our bodies react to long-duration spaceflight. And with that information we’ll be better able to understand how humans respond to microgravity and hopefully how to address it, so that we can go do really far, long-duration missions to the Moon and beyond. There's just so much out there and being a part of this public service is one of the greatest honors of my life.
