President Garfield’s Condition: July 4, 1881, 7:45 PM

EXECUTIVE MANSION,

July 4, 1881.

7.45 P. M.

The President this evening is not so comfortable.  He does not suffer so much pain in the feet.  The tympanites is again more noticeable.  Pulse 126; temperature, 101.9°; respiration, 24.

Another bulletin will be issued at 10 P. M. after which, in order not to disturb the President unnecessarily, no further bulletin will be issued till to-morrow morning.

In view of the fact that it is deemed best to keep the President perfectly quiet during the night, no further examinations will be made and no other bulletins issued until 7.30 this morning.
