NASA’s Roman Telescope exceeds expectations with a 22‑year fuel outlook, NASA debuts an NFL flyover at the Steelers’ opener, and Artemis III’s SLS rocket grows as booster stacking continues.

What is said in the film

From the skies over Pittsburgh to the path back to the Moon, NASA’s mission kept moving forward this week. Here’s what’s new, in your NASA Minute. NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is off to an excellent start. The observatory’s first mid-course correction was executed with more than 99% accuracy and used far less fuel than expected. With savings on orbit, as well as some extra fuel from launch, Roman has enough fuel to last at least 22 years – rather than the original prediction of 10 years -- giving the telescope even more time to study the universe.

NASA’s mission of inspiration reached a new audience this weekend. On Sunday, ahead of kickoff for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ home opener, two NASA T-38 aircraft carried out a flyover during the national anthem, marking NASA’s first-ever flyover at an NFL game. Administrator Jared Isaacman joined football fans outside the stadium before the game, where NASA was sharing its mission and highlighting the future of American exploration. Keep an eye on the skies for a NASA flyover coming to your stadium! The rocket that will launch Artemis III is getting taller every week!

Teams at Kennedy Space Center have now stacked nine of the 10 main solid rocket booster segments for the SLS rocket that will help propel the crew to space next year. With one more segment and the forward assemblies still to go, teams are preparing for the next major step: integrating the SLS core stage with the boosters. The work continues in the sky, in the stars, and on the path back to the Moon. We’ll see you next time on the NASA Minute.
