2025 Astronaut Candidates Ceremony Highlights

After evaluating more than 8,000 applications, NASA debuted its 2025 class of astronaut candidates during a ceremony on Sept. 22.

What is said in the film

These ten men and women are your 24th Astronaut Candidate class. Congratulations to our new class of astronauts. There's nothing that embodies the American dream more than the ten of you today. You represent America, the greatest, most innovative, creative country that's ever existed on the face of the Earth. We're going to need America's best and brightest because we have bold exploration plans for the future.

It's going to take grit. It's going to take courage to actually meet this moment with these missions, with this vision. I couldn't be more honored to be, the acting administrator, and to lead this organization, at this moment in time. We are going back to the moon. This time we're going to stay.

And from what we learn on a mission to the Moon, we're going to go to Mars. Over 8,000 people applied to get one of these ten spots. One of these ten could actually be one of the first Americans, to put, their boots on the Mars surface, I'll be damned if the Chinese beat NASA or beat America back to the Moon.
