In this letter dated June 21, 1899, Hawaiian Postmaster General Oat urgently orders postal issue stock "as the demand for the same is daily increasing particularly for the Two Cent Stamps which kindly give your first attention."
He asks that they "manufacture and forward to this office in the usual manner, insuring the same, viz:
One Hundred (100) packages -- 250 sheets each -- each sheet 50 stamps -- [of the] Two Cent Stamps, as per sample herewith. [see Scott 81a affixed]
One Hundred (100) boxes -- 500 each -- 2-cent Postal Cards. (sample enclosed.)
The American Bank Note Company received the request on July 6, 1899.
