A black-and-white cabinet photograph of two children. Captured in studio against a rural backdrop, two unidentified children are posed close to each other. On the left, a child with long wavy hair wears a bright large bow at the neck, shirt, a dark three-button jacket, capri trousers, dark tights and booties. The child's proper left hand rests on the proper right knee of the child next to him. On the right, a child with close cut dark hair wears a large bright bow at the neck, shirt, dark jacket, striped capri trousers, dark tights and booties. He sits on a rock prop which rises above his head where a small military-style cap rests. His feet are raised by a large hay-like prop. There is a tree along the left side of the phtoograph. At the bottom of the photograph in dark ink is: [615 / Mass. St. J. B. Shane, Lawrence / Kans.]. There are various numerical graphite inscriptions on the reverse of the photograph.
