What it is
The Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women (ACBCYW) is a federal advisory committee that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention convened to help it build evidence-based ways to improve understanding and awareness of breast cancer among young women.
Where it comes from
- The committee was set up by the Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young (EARLY) Act — section 10413 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148).
- The EARLY Act lets CDC develop initiatives to raise knowledge of breast health and breast cancer among women — especially women younger than 40 and those at higher risk of the disease.
