From the Space Station to the Red Planet, NASA’s missions continue moving forward. Here’s what’s new this week in your NASA Minute. On Thursday, NASA officially welcomed Matt Anderson as the agency’s 16th deputy administrator following his confirmation by the U. S. Senate earlier in the week.

A retired U. S. Air Force colonel with decades of experience in space operations and national security, Anderson will help lead NASA’s missions in exploration, science, and aeronautics as the agency pushes towards the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Welcome to NASA, Matt! This week, NASA’s Psyche spacecraft flew past Mars, using the planet’s gravity to slingshot itself deeper into the solar system on its journey to study the asteroid Psyche.

Stunning new images of the Red Planet were captured, including views of craters, the planet’s horizon, and its south polar ice cap. A SpaceX Dragon spacecraft successfully arrived at the International Space Station this week carrying over 6,000 pounds of supplies and scientific research for the Expedition 74 crew. Among the experiments delivered were studies focused on astronaut health, space weather, and Earth observation, continuing more than 25 years of scientific research aboard the orbiting laboratory.
