Who Manages America's Antiquities Act National Monuments

What's on this list

The Antiquities Act of 1906 lets the President proclaim national monuments on existing federal land. Listed here are lands that:

1. were set aside only by presidential proclamation under the Act, and
2. are still federally managed.

Parcels proclaimed separately but managed today as one unit share a line, under their current name.

Not included:

• Ocmulgee, which Congress created (Franklin Roosevelt later used the Act to expand it).
• Monuments proclaimed under authority Congress gave the President, such as Ackia Battlefield, Colonial, Andrew Jackson and Perry's Victory — even though the list at 54 U.S.C. §320301 counts them among Antiquities Act monuments.

A note on World War II Valor in the Pacific: the Dingell Act (2020) split it. The Fish and Wildlife Service and the Park Service now separately manage its original sites: the Aleutian Islands World War II National Historic Area (an NPS affiliated area within the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge), Pearl Harbor National Memorial and Tule Lake National Monument.
