Fewer Americans put off medical care because they were worried about the cost in 2017 than in 2012, according to a CDC QuickStats chart based on the National Health Interview Survey.

The findings
The age-adjusted share of people of all ages who delayed seeking medical care in the previous 12 months because of worry about cost fell from 8.2% in 2012 to 6.3% in 2017, and it fell in every Census region:

In both years, people living in the Northeast were the least likely to delay care because of cost.
About the data
The survey asked whether, during the past 12 months, each person had delayed seeking medical care because of worry about the cost; dental care was not included. Respondents answered for themselves and for other family members of all ages in their household. The estimates come from household interviews with a sample of the civilian, noninstitutionalized U.S. population and are age-adjusted to the projected 2000 U.S. population using five age groups (0–11, 12–17, 18–44, 45–64 and 65 or older).
