In 2021, according to the National Health Interview Survey, adults' likelihood of having had a flu vaccination in the past 12 months differed by race and ethnicity:

Within income groups:

  • Family income at 100%–199% or 200% or more of the federal poverty level: Hispanic and Black adults were significantly less likely than Asian and White adults to have been vaccinated.
  • Family income below the poverty level: differences among Hispanic, Black and White adults were not statistically significant, but all three were less likely to be vaccinated than Asian adults.
  • Only among White adults did vaccination coverage rise significantly with each step up in family income.
