A light gold boat neck dress (a) with a matching bolero jacket (b). The sleeveless boatneck dress has a front made from four continuous panels – two center front panels and two side panels, sewn together with princess seams. The continuous panels are made from light gold synthetic dupioni fabric that gradually gets wider as it reaches the hem. There are two diagonal bust darts at the chest, one on each side, measuring 3.5”. At the proper left waist area is a 9.5” long metal zipper with metal teeth. The back construction mirrors the front with two center back continuous panels that extend from the neckline to the hem, gradually widening towards to bottom of the dress. The center back panels are also sewn to the side panels, princess seam style.
There is self-facing at the interior neckline and armscye and at each shoulder is a 2” long self-fabric lingerie guard that secures to the dress with a metal snap. The bottom hem is a single fold 2.5” hem with a layer of synthetic horsehair machine sewn into the fold for added structure. The hem has been folded once and machine sewn to a .5” wide ivory ribbon, which was then hand sewn to the inside of the dress. All the interior seams are pressed open and left raw. There is no label.
The matching bolero jacket (b) has a cropped silhouette and is made from the same light gold synthetic dupioni fabric as the boat neck dress. The jacket front is made from four panels – two panels for each side. Two narrow panels create the turned down collar and they meet at the center back. For each side, one panel is for the collar and front opening and a second panel for the chest front and sleeve. There is a 4.5” vertical dart on each side of the bust and there is no armscye. At the end of each ¾ length sleeve is a 3” wide cuff made from one panel of fabric that has a 2” long slit. The cuff slit is turned down and pressed open. One panel of fabric makes up the back of the jacket. The interior seams are pressed open and left raw. There is no label.
