Artemis Origins

In 2017, President Trump signed Space Policy Directive‑1, setting NASA on a new path and calling for an innovative, sustainable exploration program built with commercial and international partners.    That vision became Artemis—a campaign to return humans to the Moon, unlock new scientific and economic opportunities, and prepare for the first crewed missions to Mars. Under Artemis, astronauts will embark on increasingly challenging lunar missions, building the foundation for humanity’s next giant leap across the solar system.

What is said in the film

We choose to go to the Moon ... That’s one small step for man ... If we look back at the Apollo missions and all of the scientific data that were obtained during those missions ... There is orange soil! Hey!

It is! We learned so much not only about the Moon, but also about the Earth, and the entire solar system. We've only barely scratched the surface in terms of the amount of area we've explored on the Moon. We leave as we came, and God willing, as we shall return. America has always been a frontier nation.

Now we must embrace the next frontier. I am asking Congress to fully fund the Artemis program to ensure that the next man and the first woman on the Moon will be American astronauts, using this as a launching pad to ensure that America is the first nation to plant its flag on Mars. Artemis represents the future in space. It is our next big step and it is time to take it. By unlocking the mysteries of the universe, we unlocked truths within ourselves.
