How many American adults live in families struggling with medical bills? This CDC QuickStats, based on the 2020 and 2021 National Health Interview Survey, asked whether anyone in the family had problems paying, or couldn't pay, medical bills in the past 12 months — for doctors, dentists, hospitals, therapists, medication, equipment, nursing homes or home care.
