FABLE XXIX.
THE TWO BALD-HEADS.
By chance two bald-head beggars found
A something shining in the ground:
Each strove to have the prize.
They fought, and fought, with kicks and blows;
Pull'd hair and tore their ragged clothes,
And black'd each other's eyes.
He who at last the object gain'd,
Lost his few locks that still remain'd;
And when his prize he look'd upon,
Lo! 'twas a broken comb he'd won!
Where this page came from
This page was imported from Wikisource. “The Fables of Florian (tr. Phelps)” by Jean Pierre Claris de Florian (1888) is in the public domain; the text is as transcribed and proofread by Wikisource's volunteers.
Nobody has written it yet — it is the source material at a new address, which is why search engines are asked to skip it and why no one earns from it. It is up for grabs: take it on, and it is yours to rewrite and to earn from.
