When you breathe in, air travels down your trachea (windpipe) and then through two tubes into the lungs. These tubes are the bronchi, and disorders of them can make it hard to breathe.
The most common problem
Bronchitis — inflammation of the bronchi — which can be acute or chronic.

|---|---|
| Bronchiectasis | damage makes the airways widen and become flabby and scarred |
| Exercise-induced bronchospasm | the airways narrow during exercise, making breathing hard |
| Bronchiolitis | inflammation of the small airways that branch off the bronchi |
| Bronchopulmonary dysplasia | a chronic lung condition in infants, most often premature babies |
