Diabetes insipidus (DI) causes frequent urination and extreme thirst: you drink, then urinate, over and over. The cycle can keep you from sleeping or even cause bedwetting. Your body makes lots of urine that is almost all water.

Causes and treatment
DI is usually caused by a problem with the pituitary gland or the kidneys. Treatment depends on the cause; medicines often help.
