Support

Your skin changes as you age:

  • wrinkles, age spots and dryness;
  • thinner skin that loses fat, becoming less plump and smooth;
  • slower healing.

What speeds it up

  • Sunlight is a major cause. Protect yourself by:
    • staying out of the sun when it's strongest;
    • using sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher;
    • wearing protective clothing;
    • avoiding sunlamps and tanning beds.
  • Smoking adds wrinkles — more with the number of cigarettes and years smoked.

Treatments

Many products claim to revitalize aging skin or erase wrinkles, but the Food and Drug Administration has approved only a few for sun-damaged or aging skin. Various treatments can soothe dry skin and fade age spots.
